My client is a young and growing company providing access and material lifting systems to the offshore wind sector. We are a Joint venture with Ørsted – the global leader in offshore wind.
Having successfully deployed our GUS products to the Hornsea 2 windfarm in the North Sea and rolling out deployment in three further windfarms offshore of the USA, they are hiring a Technical Support Engineer.
Job description:
We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to liaise with our field service and engineering departments to resolve problems and put the technical solutions in place to maximise the availability of our installed fleet of GUS products.
This role requires someone with an electrical/electronics background and good communication and problem-solving skills.
The role will be based in Inverkeithing, with occasional travel to other locations in the UK and worldwide, including offshore wind farms.
Main duties:
- Reviewing failure and other data from the field.
- Interpreting this data to develop solutions which can be deployed.
- Identifying trends and Root Cause / Corrective Action.
- Creating technical documentation / instructions.
- Carrying out failure analysis and Root Cause analysis on components returned from the field.
- Technical liaison with field service technicians.
- Development of instructions and processes for deploying spare parts and preventive maintenance parts.
- Support New Product Introduction, especially with regards to preparations for commissioning, maintenance, and repair.
- Customer and supplier liaison
- Occasional cover for offshore service activities
Essential Candidate requirements:
- Minimum HNC in electrical and electronic engineering or similar discipline.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring schedules etc.
- Excellent IT skills, specifically with Microsoft Office suite.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Fast learner.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team player with “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
- Permit to work in the UK.
- Flexible approach.
Advantageous knowledge/experience:
- PLC programming / service / repair.
- Servo drives.
- ProfiNET communication.
- Wireless communication.
- Working at Height.
What you can expect in return:
- Permanent, Full time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
- Salary in the range £35K to £40K per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
