Senior Mechanical Engineer | Aerospace and Defence | Hybrid
Take ownership of complex engineering projects from initial concept through to build and test.
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an engineering organisation developing advanced aerospace and defence systems.
You will lead mechanical design across multiple programmes, combining technical responsibility with hands-on involvement in prototype development, integration and testing. The position offers scope to influence design decisions, mentor engineers and strengthen the team’s engineering capability.
The role

Lead mechanical design and development from concept through detailed design and verification.

Own CAD architecture, engineering drawings and controlled design releases.

Develop metallic and composite structures.

Support prototype builds, hardware integration and testing.

Evaluate designs through FEA, hand calculations and trade studies.

Provide technical guidance and mentor other engineers.
Your experience

Significant mechanical design experience in aerospace, defence or a similarly demanding engineering environment.

Strong SolidWorks or CATIA capability.

Sound knowledge of GD&T, manufacturing drawings and PDM/PLM processes.

Experience designing metallic and composite structures.

Practical understanding of prototype development, integration and testing.

The ability to take technical ownership and communicate effectively across engineering teams.
Working arrangements
Hybrid working with regular site attendance to support engineering and hardware activities. Eligibility for UK Security Clearance at SC level is required.
